2023 - I Internacional Symposium Of Leishmaniasis Of Mid North Region Of Brazil
The first edition of this event will be held in Teresina, Piauí, with its central theme focusing on "Epidemiology, Diagnosis, and Innovative Therapeutic Solutions Applicable to Leishmaniasis." The primary aim of this gathering is to foster a discussion surrounding the prevalence of these diseases in the Mid-North region and to explore the key approaches to treatment and prevention, including the utilization of vaccines available in the veterinary market. Furthermore, it aims to promote a comprehensive dialogue about the primary research being conducted by both Brazilian and international institutions in this field.
The symposium's agenda is tailored to cater to undergraduate and postgraduate students, educators, researchers, and professionals working within the fields of health, agricultural sciences, biology, and epidemiological surveillance. This event will serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, the establishment of collaborative partnerships, and the evaluation of potential emerging therapeutic options for leishmaniasis

A professora aposentada, Dra. Maria Acelina Martins de Carvalho, pesquisadora sênior do PPGTAIR, foi homenageada no evento. A jornada Internacional de Pós-graduação que ocorreu concomitante ao Leish Meio Norte, foi renomeada com o nome da referida pesquisadora.
A Dra. Maria Acelina Martins de Carvalho participou do APCN de instauração do Programa e é uma das pesquisadoras mais antigas e renomadas do Estado do Piauí.
